Further to our article above regarding the proposed changes to the Retail and Commercial Leases Act 1995 as contained in the Retail and Commercial Leases (Miscellaneous) Amendment Bill, it is anticipated that the Bill will be passed by Parliament in the near future. In anticipation of this important legislative change, Cimon Burke and Chris Woodard are conducting two lunchtime sessions for property officers to provide a detailed overview of the proposed changes relevant for council leases. We will also discuss the implications for council lease negotiations both now and once the Bill becomes law.
